As part of the £5 million redevelopment programme of the Zoo, we were appointed as Design Coordinators for the preparation of a Landscape Strategy and Masterplan.

A number of major new projects have now been completed or are in progress to revolutionise the way in which the zoo's educational, conservation and research work, the animals and their habitats, and the recreational components are presented to the public.

 

Working closely with the zoo staff and design team members, we produced a landscape strategy and the masterplan for the redevelopment work, and acted as Project Coordinators and Landscape Design Consultants on the £1.75m central area redevelopment.

The development strategy:

• Analysed the existing landscape context and visitor experience
• Identified opportunities to enhance overall landscape quality and visitor perception of the zoo
• Presented strategies for site development and a philosophy for the future
