Nicholas Pearson BA MA FLI
Director
Nicholas Pearson is Managing Director of the Company, which he
founded in 1982. He started his career with Bracknell Development
Corporation and, thereafter, worked for many years on projects
in the Middle East and South America. Nicholas is a Chartered
Landscape Architect and a Fellow of the Chartered Landscape Institute.
With over thirty years professional experience, he has directed
a wide variety of projects, including oil and gas developments
(Wytch Farm Oilfield Development for BP;
Point of Ayr Terminal for BHP Billiton); wind farms (National
Wind Power); roads (M4 widening; A303 Stonehenge for Highways
Agency); commercial schemes (Sainsbury's plc); residential (Priory
Vale, Swindon for North Swindon Development Company) and educational
developments (Bath Spa University College).
He has provided expert witness evidence at a considerable number
of public inquiries and appeals, and has presented papers at conferences
and seminars on landscape planning and design issues. He
has been an External Examiner at Heriot Watt University, and a
Member of Council of the Landscape Institute.

Dr Trevor Turpin BA BSc MSc PhD FCIWEM

Director
Trevor Turpin has over thirty years' experience of environmental
assessment and management. He joined Nicholas Pearson Associates
in 1986 following a career in local and central government and
with Wessex Water Authority where he worked in pollution control
for some 10 years. He became a Director of Nicholas Pearson
Associates on its incorporation in 1992 and he has led or undertaken
numerous EnvironmentaI Impact Assessments for proposed developments
both in the UK and overseas.
He was elected to the Council of the former Institute of Environmental
Assessment to represent corporate members in 1997 and now serves
on the Professional Standards and Technical Review Committees
of the successor Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment.
He has lectured at a number of UK universities including
the University of Bath where he is a visiting lecturer on the
MSc in Integrated Environmental Management. He is co-author
of the best selling Environmental Impact
Assessment Handbook: A Practical Guide for Planners, Developers
and Communities (Thomas Telford, 2002).

Simon Bonvoisin BA MSc MICFor MIEnvSc
Regional Director - Tiverton
Simon Bonvoisin, has been responsible for running Nicholas Pearson
Associates' Tiverton office since it was established in 1987.
Prior to this he was Environmental Officer to BP on the construction
of the Wytch Farm Oilfield Development in Dorset. He heads the
company's historic landscape and landscape
management team having, since 1990, specialised in the conservation,
restoration and management of nationally important historic landscapes.
He has nearly twenty year's experience of work in this and related
fields.
He has advised a wide range of site owners and clients including
The National Trust, local authorities, private owners, charitable
trusts and the Duchy of Cornwall, in England, Wales and Ireland,
and maintains long term working relationships with many of these.
He also acts as an assessor and monitor for the Heritage Lottery
Fund on individual projects across the United Kingdom.

Paul Jolliffe DipLA MLI
Associate Director
Paul Jolliffe is a Chartered Landscape Architect with over twenty
years experience in both private consultancy and local authority.
He has extensive experience in undertaking landscape and visual
impact assessments, preparing Environmental Statement landscape
chapters, and has assisted in master plan preparation for large
scale residential developments including for Priory
Vale, Swindon, 5500 new dwellings, and Brockworth, Gloucestershire,
1900 new dwellings. On these projects, Paul has acted as landscape
architect designing landscape infrastructure for new roads, watercourses
and parks, and has acted as environmental project manager overseeing
ecological and archaeological interests.
He has prepared proofs of evidence and appeared as an expert
witness in planning inquiries. Recently, Paul has been appointed
as project landscape architect for the Highways Agency A419 improvements
in Swindon, adding to his previous experience as environmental
project manager for the M4 J10-12 widening within land. He has
experience in urban river restoration, flood defence and waterbody
scheme design and has given papers at conferences on this topic.
Unusual projects include the elephant enclosure, gorilla island,
tropical aviary and play area design and construction for Bristol
Zoo Gardens.

Sara Metcalfe BSc DipLD MA MLI
Associate Director
Sara Metcalfe is a Chartered Landscape Architect, with over twenty
years experience, and has managed and co-ordinated a wide range
of projects for the Company. She has specialist knowledge of the
methodology and practice of landscape and visual assessment, both
in the rural and urban context, and is committed to the concept
of environmental capacity and its potential to guide and inform
planning policy. She is a Registered EIA Practitioner with the
Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment.
Sara has been involved with the assessment of impact at the site
specific level, regional and at the strategic level and covering
various types of development ranging from residential to renewable
energy schemes and transport routes to commercial development.
With this expertise, Sara has prepared and co-ordinated the production
of several Environmental Statements, at the same time as being
part of the design team. She is currently co-ordinating and managing
the Company's input to a number of schemes for the Highways Agency,
including the A303 Stonehenge Improvement
Scheme, in partnership with design engineers Mott MacDonald.
She has extensive experience if working with the water environment,
having been project landscape architect for Wessex Water in the
construction of the Blashford Lakes Water Treatment Works, which
involved extensive site works to an existing system of gravel
workings, based on ecological design principles; preparation of
management plans, balancing recreational uses, nature conservation
interests and operational requirements, together with preparing
designs for a second phase of work, preparation of impact assessment
and preparation of a planning application which although locally
contentious, achieved permission without the need for public inquiry.
Sara has also worked on river systems, both in the practical implementation
of improvement works and the assessment of flood-relief options
as well as being project manager and landscape architect for the
Point of Ayr BHP Gas Terminal and associated pipelines in Wales.
Sara has given evidence at a number of public inquiries and is
therefore is experienced at presenting an informed and reasoned
professional opinion.

Simon Kale BA (Hons) MLI
Associate Director
Simon Kale is a Chartered Landscape Architect with a wide interest
in the successful and careful design and integration of all scales
and types of development into the landscape. He has been the Project
landscape architect on numerous schemes set within sensitive locations
including Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Conservation Areas
and a number of developments within the World Heritage Site of
Bath. He has also worked as a Landscape Architect in Australia
and New Zealand.
He has extensive environmental, landscape and visual impact assessment
experience with involvement in many commercial and infrastructure
projects including those within green and brownfield sites, as
well as district wide landscape assessments. Work has included
site analysis, impact assessment and the design of integrated
mitigation proposals.
Landscape masterplanning and design experience has included new
residential (The Forum for Crest Nicholson), commercial (Meadowbank
Quay for Sainsbury's) and infrastructure developments (Swanage
Sewage Treatment Works for Wessex Water) from conceptual design
to detailed proposals including the successful integration of
scheme proposals into sensitive landscape contexts. Simon has
considerable liaison and project team experience with both architectural
and engineering professionals during scheme design and implementation.

Financial Manager
John Matthews joined the company in 1989, and is responsible for
company financial management and planning at operational, corporate
and strategic levels. He is the Associate Director charged with
the supervision of the company's Personnel and Employment policies
and procedures.

Clare Sanders

Operations Manager
Clare is a business and commercial manager with experience of both
environmental practices and major corporations. She joined the company
in 2003 and has fulfilled the role of company Operations Manager
since 2006. This role includes that of company Health and Safety
Officer.
