There is now increasing recognition of the need to maintain and
restore our important cultural landscapes, together with avoiding
the damage caused by inappropriate changes of land use management.
This has resulted in the availability of financial assistance
from various sources. However, great care and consideration is
required to achieve a successful application. Two of the main
sources of which we have extensive experience are:
Heritage Lottery Funding
We have particular experience of the requirements of the Heritage Lottery Fund from three main perspectives:
- Advising applicants wishing to secure grant aid from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
To date we have had considerable success with Highcliffe Castle,
Dorset; Trebah Gardens Trust, Cornwall; Bedgebury Pinetum, Sussex;
Plas Newydd, Denbighshire; Simmons
Park, and Castell Deudraeth, Okehampton; Rydal Hall, Cumbria;
Dyffryn Gardens, Vale of Glamorgan; Portmeirion; Lurgan Park,
Northern Ireland; Hestercombe Gardens,
Somerset and Newton Park, Bath.
- As technical assessors to the Heritage Lottery Fund.
We have advised the Trustees on technical, cost and heritage
aspects of applications, and we are familiar with the diversity
of applications and standards set by the Fund.
- Lottery Monitoring Officers for the Heritage Lottery Fund at various sites.
We help successful applicants in the implementation of works,
gaining experience of the grants in action.
Countryside Stewardship Scheme
Since the inception of the Countryside Stewardship Scheme we have helped several dozen owners and occupiers secure valuable long term agreements to conserve and enhance the best of England's designed and cultural landscapes. Schemes have ranged from whole estate plans to the restoration of commons, and smaller parkland agreements.
