Humbly Grove

Humbly Grove

Star Energy is progressing plans for a gas storage project to extend the life of its Humbly Grove onshore oilfield at Weston Common, near Alton and improve the security of the UK's gas supplies.

We carried out a Landscape Character Assessment and Landscape Impact Assessment as part of an Environmental Impact Assessment for the proposed 30km gas pipeline between the gas production and storage facilities. The preferred route traversed a range of landscape types within the rolling downland landscape of north Hampshire. Key issues related to the careful alignment to avoid existing trees and minimise impacts on hedgerows and other important landscape features.

Our contribution

  • Landscape Character assessment
  • Landscape and visual impact assessments
  • Site layout and access design inputs
  • Computer generated photomontages

In addition we are providing advice on site layout and access issues and have prepared a Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment for the major extension to the existing facility at Humbly Grove. The site, set within a woodland plantation, and proposals were carefully designed to minimise impacts on woodland of value and visual receptors. We have prepared computer generated photomontages to illustrate the proposals and show their integration into their surroundings.
