Purple Flowers

As part of the consolidation of their services in the south west, the Land Registry is developing a new high quality site for their Information Systems Building. The landmark new building will provide a new gateway into the business park.

We were appointed as landscape architects and prepared a landscape masterplan for the site as part of a detailed planning application. The landscape design provides a dramatic setting for the building and includes an informal parkland surround as well as two contrastingly designed courtyards.

Our contribution

  • Landscape masterplan design
  • Detailed planting design and specification
  • Detailed hard landscape design
  • Landscape specification for construction

Design references for the hard and soft detailed design have included the wild landscapes of Dartmoor, visible from the site, and from the new architectural form. Plant species selection has included native plantings, recognising the local climatic conditions as well as a variety of choice herbaceous material to provide colour and interest throughout the year.

The project has received an excellent BREEAM rating due partly to the use of native plant species within the landscape design.
