Bath Spa University’s Sion Hill Campus, which lies within the City of Bath, is the home of the University’s School of Art and Design a renowned centre for creative and innovative teaching of the arts.
The buildings sit within a designed parkland, small in scale but featured by mature specimen trees and sloping lawns. In recent years the School has undergone radical change and improvement, with the construction of modern workshops and new teaching facilities, as well as a new, contemporary entrance atrium, café and open learning space.
We have worked for the University at this campus for many years, advising the School on ways of integrating new development into this sensitive urban environment. Most recently we have, in support of the successful planning application for development, introduced comprehensive hard landscape and planting proposals to highlight and celebrate the new buildings whilst integrating them in external views from local streets and residential properties around the campus.
The result is a very attractive campus which complements and enhances its Conservation Area location in this World Heritage Site.
